Homeopathic practice

In 1998 the Latvian Medical Association – Latvijas Ārstu biedrība – recognised homeopathy as an additional medical specialty, which means that a homeopathic doctor also has to have a certificate of a medical specialty (general medicine, paediatrics, etc.). The national homeopathic doctors’ association issues diplomas recognised by the Latvia Medical Association.

Medical doctors providing CAM treatments, including homeopathy, are supervised by a commission of experts representing the Medical Society of the Republic of Latvia and the professional medical associations. The Administrative Codex prohibits non-medically qualified practitioners from practising medicine of any kind.
